Koji Amezawa presented a talk on: “Operando 3-dimensional observation of reaction distribution in composite positive electrode for bulk-type all-solid-state lithium ion secondary batteries by using CT-XAFS“.
Abstract;
All-solid-state lithium-ion batteries (ASSLIBs) have attracted much attention because of their potential of high power density and safety operation. In ASSLIB electrodes, particles of active material and electrolyte are randomly distributed while constructing 3-dimensional complicated pathways of ion and electron. Therefore the charge/discharge reaction may proceed inhomogeneously in the electrode especially under high-rate operation, resulting in the degradation of the capacity and the power output. In order to ensure the rate capability of ASSLIBs, it is important to understand how the charge/discharge reaction proceeds.
In this study, we applied the 3-dimensional imaging X-ray absorption fine structure (3D-XAFS) technique to visualize the spatial distribution of the state of charge (SOC) in an ASSLIB electrode under the operation
