Open researcher position in Computational methods for immiscible two-phase flow in porous media at PoreLab

Position as researcher (Position code (SKO) 1109) in Porous Media Physics is available at PoreLab – Center of Excellence – at the Department of Physics, University of Oslo, Norway. The position is for a period of three years, with starting date as soon as possible.

The position will be focused on the use of computational methods for immiscible two-phase flow in porous media. PoreLab has over two decades developed a dynamic network simulator that needs to be maintained and developed further in close collaboration with the existing experimental and theoretical groups both at PoreLab Oslo and PoreLab Trondheim.
The position is an excellent possibility to qualify for a tenured academic position. It is expected that the candidate actively pursues possibilities for new projects within the field, by participating/submitting applications to the EU, the Research Council of Norway and industry. The candidate will take part in supervision of students, and outreach activity connected to PoreLab.

Qualification requirements

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
  • Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in computational or theoretical physics with a specialization in statistical physics. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Only applicants with an approved doctoral thesis and public defence are eligible for appointment.
  • Good and documented knowledge of programming languages such as Fortran and/or C/C++.
  • Experience in developing code.
  • Experience in the field of porous media.
  • Fluent oral and written communication skills in English.
