Abstract:
This talk will present a review of some recent technical developments and scientific accomplishments in laboratory experimental testing of geomaterials – with a special focus on imaging. In particular, I’ll provide a few examples of studies using full-field techniques such as x-ray and neutron tomography. These two techniques have had a strong impact over the last two decades, and have allowed the understanding of the micro scale processes ultimately driving the behavior at the macroscopic scale.
