Title: Active Reorganisation in Tissues

Abstract: Collective motion of cells, which is essential in processes like wound healing, embryogenesis and cancer metastasis among others, remains poorly understood. It can be shown that the collective motion can be broken down into two components that preserve and break neighbourhood topology of cells. The mixing of active cells within a tissue is directly related to the number of times the neighbourhood topology changes, and this behaviour might be universal in several different regimes of cell material properties and cell motion. It remains to be seen if this can be extended to all dense systems that involve particles moving relative to each other.
