Title: Particle methods for pore-scale modeling of reactive flows

Speaker: Prof. Philippe Poncet

Affiliation: Lab. Mathematics and their Applications, University of Pau & Pays Adour, France

Abstract:

In this talk we will explain how particle methods can be used in partial differential equation for which transport phenomena is dominant. Their formulation in complex geometries make them an appropriate tool for flow computation at the pore scale of real rock matrix, despite some operators to handle carefully. We will describe, in the context of one phase flows (fluid+solid) the use of such particle methods for reactive flows with evolving fluid/solid interface, shear-thinning fluids (rheology), homogenization to the superficial formulation of flows in porous media, and percolation time induced by reactive process.
